Legalities Involved in Costa Rica Wedding

Getting married in Costa Rica is a great idea these days. The place has lots of natural beauty that makes a Costa Rica wedding ideal. But for Costa Rica weddings, the non residents of this place needs to produce certain documents. Let us take look into that.

In case both the bride and the groom are non residents of Costa Rica then they should have a valid passport for identity proof. The passport should not expire in the next six months. You should give two copies of this passport to your lawyer. You should always have a local attorney who will help you in getting married by filing the needed documents. If you have selected a hotel as your wedding venue then you can either hire an attorney or the hotel will hire one for you. It will be expensive if you ask them to hire an attorney for you. It may cost around $500. But hiring on your own will cost around $300.

If both the bride and groom do not have Spanish as their first language then there will be a translator at the wedding. The wedding will take place in both the languages.

The lawyer needs to get the full names of the bride and the groom that will include first name, middle name and last name. You should never give the initials. You will require producing your passport numbers and nationality. The birth dates and places of birth are also required. The lawyer will also ask for the foreign address and documents confirming your occupation. You need to produce your divorce certificate, if any. The certificate should have been issued 300 days before applying for present license. You also need two witnesses for the wedding. You can hire a Costa wedding planner who will organize the wedding for you.
